Ligonia is an industrial area in Maine that was once a beautiful lagoon.

Ligon has several meanings depending on language and context.
  1. Old French meaning spade
  2. Welch meaning marsh
  3. Polish for one who 'kicks up a fuss'
  4. Spanish for a flirt or player (from 'Ligar' to flirt/hook  up)
  5. Spanish for hoe
  6. In legal English(though rarely used, a jettisoned ship's cargo.
